Thomas Roark succumbs at 79

Thomas Edward Roark, 79, died May 29 at his home at Kingscreek.

A son of the late Parrot and Lona Day Roark, he was a grandfather of the late Amy Ison and a brother of the late Geneva Roark, Norma Lee Roark and Barbara Huff.

Surviving are his wife, Norma Jean Smith Roark; two daughters, Sandra Ison and husband Wayne, and Cheryl Wynn and husband Rodney, all of Kingscreek; a son, Thomas G. Roark and wife Ruby of Kingscreek; a brother, George Roark, Kingscreek; six sisters, Polly R. Hicks of Mousie, Eulene Hogg and Lorene Hampton, both of Kingscreek, Mildred Ison of Leatherwood, Gladys Cornett of Hueysville, and Juanita Reeves of Lexington; five grandchildren, Andrea Cornett, Matthew Wynn, Katelyn Wynn, Kelsie Cornett and Jeanna Roark; and three great-grandchildren, John Steven Cornett, James Wyatt Ison and Jackson Cornett.

Funeral services were held May 31 at Kingscreek Community Church. Burial was in the Roark Cemetery at Kingscreek.

Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of arrangements.
