Two young barred owls believed to be about a month old rested on a perch with an older barred owl in a stall of the Letcher County Extension Outdoor Education Center on June 19. The owl pictured in the front was found in a road at Sergent about four weeks ago. The owl pictured in the middle was found in Bottom Fork two weeks ago. An older barred owl pictured in the back was found about five weeks ago trapped in a garage in Dry Fork. Mitch Whitaker, who oversees the 4-H raptor rehabilitation program at the extension office, said the owls are healthy and could be released soon back into the wild. (Photo by Sally Barto)
