Southeastern Kentucky artist Gerald Bailey created this tribute to the Kentucky Derby named Thunder-A-Foot. The artwork, which stands 14 hands high, is 20 inches wide across the chest and 8 feet, 8 inches in length, and weighs about 350 pounds. It is made of horseshoes and is named for Thunderfoot, chief of the Buffalo Creek Band of the Cherokee. When asked what he is going to do with Thunder-A-Foot Bailey said, “I’m taking him to the Derby.”
