Thurman Cook dies at 60



Thurman Cook, 60, died August 24 at the Veterans Administration Hospice in Lexington.

A son of the late William and Mary Ann Cook of Cromona, he was the widower of Linda Carol Cook of Kite, and a brother of the late Anthony Cook of Cromona.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a member of American Legion Post 104, Neon.

Surviving are three children, Leo Cook and wife Melissa and Justin Cook, all of Martin, and Regina Maggard and husband David of Neon; brothers and sisters, Sue Severs of Crossville, Tenn.; Stanley Cook and Sharlene Pierce, both of Cromona; Deliah Birdsong of Pinellas Park, Fla.; Beverly Stephens of Jenkins; and William Cook Jr. of Ermine; grandchildren, Taylor and Daven Maggard of Neon; Chris and Zach Cook of Martin; and Brittany and Briona Cook of Indianapolis, Ind.; and great-grandchildren, Jayden and Chloe Cook and Brayden Cook of Indianapolis Ind.

A memorial service was held at New Freedom Worship Center in Jenkins on September 1.
