’ Beth Little of Little Cowan helped her five-year-old daughter Maggie fill a shoebox with gifts Monday night at Whitesburg First Baptist Church. This is the 11th year the church has served as a collection site for southeastern Kentucky for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Last year more than 11,000 gift-filled shoeboxes were dropped off. Collection week began November 16 and ends November 23. Gift-filled shoeboxes will be accepted from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. through Friday; from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and from noon until 8 p.m. next Monday. (Photo by Sally Barto)
