Tornadoes hit Ky.


The National Weather Service has confirmed at least five tornadoes hit Kentucky during severe storms across the state.

The weather service says two tornadoes struck Ballard County, one touched down in Butler County, another in Grayson County and one in Whitley County on Monday.

In Ballard County, a tornado with winds up to 90 mph hit at 10:18 a.m. CDT near Slater and another with winds up to 120 mph struck two minutes later southwest of Kevil, trapping one person under a farm building in Hinkleville.

In Butler County, a twister with winds of 95 to 100 mph hit about eight miles south of Morgantown and traveled 3.4 miles.

The weather service said a tornado was also confirmed in Whitley County, just northwest of Williamsburg.

Several injuries were reported in connection with the storms, including seven at a plant in Christian County, two in Muhlenberg County, one in Ballard County and another in Whitley County.
