Twenty members of the PRIDE Club at Letcher County Central High School worked with other volunteers in the Appalachian Reforestation Initiative on March 6 to plant redbud, oak, pine, and American Chestnut trees. The trees were planted on a 10-acre plot on an old reclaimed strip mine site above Elk Creek belonging to Dr. Artie Ann Bates.
