Trick-or-treating in Letcher County will be observed from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30.
Several Halloween Safe Nights are planned throughout the county.
A pumpkin party for children ages 12 and under is set for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 at the Gordon Volunteer Fire Department. The event, hosted by the Gordon Area Homemakers Club, will include games and pumpkin painting. Bring your own pumpkin. Snacks and treats will be provided.
Campbell’s Branch Community Center sponsor a Safe Night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, which will include hayrides, pony rides hot chocolate and trick-or-treating.
The Boone Fork Center in Neon will host a Halloween Family Fun Night, Oct. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by the Wildcat Warrior’s Relay for Life Team, there will be games, face painting, cakewalks, a silent auction, dancing, food and refreshments. There will also be a costume contest with winners in several categories. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society/ Letcher County Relay for Life 2011. The Jenkins Festival Committee is sponsoring a Halloween Safe Night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Jenkins City Park.
McRoberts Community Center will have a Halloween Safe Night on Oct. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The City of Whitesburg’s Halloween Safe Night will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Oct. 30, at River Park in Whitesburg. The event will include a haunted house at the picnic shed.
