A retired teacher and coach, Turner, 57, currently serves on the following committees: Appropriations and Revenue; Education, Health and Welfare; State and Local Government; Rules, and Committees on Committees.

Turner taught school and coached in Floyd, Johnson and Magoffin counties for 28 years. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Morehead State University.

“I am honored by the confidence the citizens of the 29th District have placed in me,” said Turner, who serves in leadership as Senate Caucus Chair, said in making his announcement. “We’ve had a lot of success, but there’s more to do and I look forward to the challenge.”
