Two Letcher County men were arrested last week for stealing a variety of items from an unoccupied house at Campbranch.
Letcher County Sheriff Danny Webb said a truck driver noticed two men running out of a neighboring house, which is owned by Terry Richardson, located at 6755 Highway 931 North, around 4 a.m. on May 6. The truck driver reported that the men got in a gray Ford Explorer and drove off .
Around 7 a.m. a family member of Richardson saw the Explorer and a large tiller in the yard of Tim Combs, 31, of 1020 Low Gap Road, Sexton’s Branch.
Webb said he found tillers, televisions, personal items, quilts, a weed trimmer and a gun in Combs’s possession.
Webb said Combs confessed to him that Donnie Baker, 41, of 140 Seaboard Drive, Whitesburg, assisted in the theft.
Combs was arrested May 6 and Baker was arrested May 7. Both were charged with second-degree burglary, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking.
Combs and Baker remain in the Letcher County Jail and bond is set at $10,000 cash each.
Webb has charge of the investigation.
