Two Letcher County residents were killed Saturday in a single vehicle collision in Haymond.
Jimmy Woods Jr., 19, of Burdine, lost control of the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt he was operating and went off the east bound shoulder of KY 805 in Haymond around 12:46 p.m., Kentucky State Police said in a news release. Police said the car collided with a tree and then came to rest in a creek.
Members of Neon Emergency Medical Service (EMS) apparently witnessed the collision, arrived quickly at the scene and determined that the occupants in the car were dead.
Woods and passenger Whitney Griffin, 22, of McRoberts, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Letcher County Coroners Office.
Police say no seat belts were in use.
This incident remains under investigation by KSP Det. Randy Combs.
