Two learn sentences at hearings

A Roxana woman who was sentenced last week to five years for trafficking in methamphetamine was indicted two days later on a new charge of possessing the drug.

Lona M. Griffie, 40, of 11173 HWY 160, pleaded guilty on February 18 to first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense, methamphetamine) and receiving stolen property under $10,000. She had received a pre-trial diversion on that date, but her diversion was voided on May 13.

On June 8, Letcher Circuit Judge James W. Craft II sentenced her to five years each on the drug trafficking and receiving stolen property charges, with the charges to run concurrently for a total of five years.

Griffie was indicted June 10 on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance ( methamphetamine), and use/ possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident that occurred April 7 and led to the revocation of her diversion.

Also sentenced last week in Letcher Circuit Court was Lana Evelyn Kincer, 41, of 358 Pine Creek, Mayking. Kincer pleaded guilty to first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. She was sentenced to a total of three years, probated for five years and ordered to pay $165.00 court costs.
