Two sentenced after pleas

A Jeremiah man and a South Carolina man have each pleaded guilty to charges against them in Letcher Circuit Court. They are:

• Carlos R. Bentley, 44, of 1728 Doty Creek, Jeremiah, who pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, operating a motor vehicle with suspended/ revoked operator’s license, no/expired registration plates, no/expired Kentucky registration receipt, failure of non-owner/operator to maintain required insurance/security, failure to produce insurance card, failure to wear seatbelts and failure to register transfer of motor vehicle.

Bentley was sentenced to five years imprisonment probated for five years.

• Robert J. Cowan, Jr., 55, of 4320 Cureton Fairy Rd., Catawaba, S.C., who pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (first offense with aggravators) and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Cowan was sentenced to five years imprisonment probated for five years.
