Two sets of twins celebrate birthdays

It sure felt good to have a couple of warm days, especially after having all the snow and cold temperatures for the last couple of weeks.

Bob and I took Opal Banks to Lexington for her doctor’s checkup recently. It was the same day that the big ice and snowstorm hit Lexington and that area was really hit hard. We made the trip OK in our four-wheel drive, and after leaving Lexington, Bob, Opal, Kenny Joe and I, stopped in London and lunch with our daughter, Jessie.

Ellis Adams also had an appointment in Lexington that day, and they had a safe trip too.

It was so sad to hear that Doris Watts of Linefork died rather suddenly. She was so nice and friendly, and always helpful to so many family and friends. The family has our deepest sympathy, especially her son, Tim, who will be so lonely without his mom.

Belated birthday wishes to Libby Smith and Chris Day, and Amber and April Pridemore. Both sets of twins had birthdays last week.

K.P. and Lana Pridemore spent last weekend at the Grand Old Opry in Nashville. Lana’s co-workers bought her the gift. She retired in December.

We’re glad that Geraldine Ison’s brother, Larry Caudill of Indiana, got a good report from his doctor. His leukemia is in remission, and his bone marrow reports were good.

Hubert Eldridge of Elk Creek, has his son, David, in from Michigan visiting. David plans to be here for a month, and I hope they enjoy their time together. They attended Mount Olivet Church at Blackey on Saturday evening and Sunday.

The church had a full house on Sunday and a good service. I think the warmer weather got a lot of folks out of their houses and into the church house.

I was pleased to sit with my uncle and aunt, Ivan and Freda Adams, while at church Sunday.

Get well wishes go out to Gano Caudill and Verlon Breeding of Doty Creek, Dorothy Griffie of Sycamore Loop, and Vada Blair of Blair Branch. We hope they are all doing a little better this week.

Bob dropped by to visit Dennis and Vada Blair, and she said she is doing better after having surgery on her feet. We’ve been missing her at church and look forward to her being out and about soon.

Virgil Ray Adams has been sick and so has Mallie Hobbs. They are both patients at Letcher Manor.

Verna Collins has a new great-grandbaby and was pleased to tell everyone about the little one, who weighed over 10 pounds. It is her son, Bobby Darrell’s, grandbaby.

Opal Jent had pictures of her and David’s grandson and he looked like a cute little fellow.

We attended visitation for Carl Adams of Cowan, who died last week. Carl and Vivian were two very nice folks, and it seems you always saw them together. They were both in the armed services during World War II, and always gave you a warm greeting when you would visit the Big Cowan Regular Baptist Church. We have been blessed to have known them, and our sympathy goes out to Vivian and the family during their loss.
