Two women accused of disorderly conduct at the Whitesburg hospital were scheduled for arraignment in Letcher District Court.
The charges were filed after Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Healthcare security officers told police that Crystal M. Slone, 31, of Beattyville, and Brenda Blair, 40, of Jenkins, were caught stealing sheets, towels, washcloths and a gown and returned them before Whitesburg police arrived.
Court documents say Blair and Slone became loud and disruptive on the second floor of the hospital when confronted by a Whitesburg police officer.
Slone yelled and caused a disturbance in the hospital parking lot as well as identifying herself under the false name of Josephine Slone, according to a citation. Slone told police she had taken the nerve pain medication gabapentin (Neurontin). Blair said she was taking the antiwithdrawal drug Suboxone and Neurontin, claiming that both were prescribed to her.
Both Blair and Slone are charged with public intoxication (controlled substance) and second-degree disorderly conduct. Slone was also charged with giving an officer a false name.
The women posted bonds of $160 each for the misdemeanor charges and were released from Letcher County Jail.
