Relatives and friends of former Whitesburg resident Thomas P. “Tom” Underwood gathered in Danville on Sunday to remember his life.
Underwood, 63, of Melber, Ky., died June 21 at his home. A Letcher County native born to the late Paul E. and Inez H. Underwood on June 2, 1951, he was the husband of Wanda F. Underwood a retired employee of AT&T, formerly Bell South Telephone Company.
Underwood and Wanda had lived in Winchester, Fancy Farm, and Danville, but recently moved to Melber, a small community in Graves and McCracken counties, so that Tom could do what he loved most and grew up doing — hunting and fishing.
Underwood was an avid horseback rider, member of the Whitesburg Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites, and the Olieka Shriners.
Other survivors are son Jeremy Underwood and his wife, Elisabeth, and their children Abigail and Caleb of Dayton, Ohio; daughter Marcie Rayburn and her children Brandon (and Brandon’s two children) and Cade of Fancy Farm. A sister and brother-inlaw, Diann and Ron Cundiff of Nicholasville.
The June 29 remembrance was held at Salt River Baptist Church in Danville.
Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home of Danville was in charge of arrangements.
