Jenkins Independent School Technology Director Damien Johnson recently attended an event honoring the partnership between University of Louisville researchers and Dataseam during Friday night’s Louisville vs. Cincinnati football game. About 30 representatives from participating schools across Kentucky, Dataseam scholars now attending UofL, and employees of Dataseam were recognized on the field just prior to kickoff .
Johnson was in Louisville attending advanced computer and network certification classes at the Dataseam Training Center. Jenkins Independent School district has been a part of this program since 2007.
Dataseam places new computers in schools for everyday classroom use and then networks those computers so scientists can use the processing power. Researchers from the UofL’s James Graham Brown Cancer Center have already discovered several potential life-saving cancer drugs using the process.
