Varrien ‘Bud’ Breeding, 76, dies



Funeral services for Varrien Glenn ‘Bud’ Breeding, 76, of Isom, were held March 6 at Everidge Funeral Home in Whitesburg. Burial was in Walter Burke family cemetery at Bevinsville.

He died March 1 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born in Breathitt County to the late Herman and Nannie Bell Noble Breeding, he was a brother of the late Herman Breeding Jr., Jacklyn Breeding, Linda Rose Breeding, and Georgean Sexton.

Breeding was retired after 30 years in the U.S. Marine Corps at the rank of master sergent E8, and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Jennifer Breeding; two daughters, Janet Breeding Papp, Howell, Mich., and Melissa Hall Meade and husband James, Whitesburg; a son, Christopher Hall, North Carolina; three brothers, William ‘Cigar’ Breeding, Isom, Bobby Breeding, Jeremiah, and Curt Breeding, Irvinington, Ala.; a sister, Mary Breeding Combs, Isom; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Papp, Angela Jean Papp, Christopher James ‘CJ’ Hall, William ‘ Brandin’ Hall, Ethen Shelby Hall, Jennifer ‘Kendra’ Ballou, Emily ‘Taylor’ Faith North, David ‘Scott’ Glenn North, Jamie Gayle Meade, Thomas Chandler Meade; two greatgrandchildren, Keyara Hall and Skylar Hall; and friends Buford Combs and Larry Everidge.
