Victim’s family seeking woman

Family members of a 27- year-old woman who was killed in a two-car crash in Whitesburg earlier this month are searching for a woman who they say witnessed the accident on Whitco Hill.

T.J. Hatton of Whitesburg said the woman spoke with family members at the Whitesburg hospital soon after the wreck. They now hope she will come forward and tell police what she says she saw.

According to Hatton, the woman’s version of the wreck that killed Jessica Pigg on May 3 differs from the conclusions of a Kentucky State Police investigation.

“She told a few of us at the hospital what happened, but we were so tore up we forgot to ask her name,” said Hatton.

Hatton said the woman made an effort to find members of Pigg’s family at the hospital to talk with them about circumstances she believes may have contributed to the accident.

“She said she wouldn’t feel right unless she went to the hospital and told us what she saw,” said Hatton.

Hatton is asking the woman to call him at 633- 3992.

“If she would just come forth and talk to us,” he said.

State police say Pigg, of Viper, was killed when the 1992 Chevrolet Lumina she was driving crossed the center line of KY 15 around 3:30 p.m. on May 3 and collided nearly head on with a 2008 Honda Accord driven by David Marcus Wittsack, 19, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.

Pigg was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Deputy Letcher County Coroner Robbie Campbell.
