Vigil held for Orlando victims

Community members gathered at 8 p.m. on June 19 at the red bridge next to the walking trail in downtown Whitesburg to hold a candlelight vigil for the lives lost and those injured in the June 12 mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub

In the early morning hours of June 12, approximately 50 people were killed and 53 wounded when a man opened fire at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Fla., in the midst of Gay Pride Month.

There were speakers, songs, and space for community members to share and show support. This candlelight vigil was meant to bring the community together to unite in solidarity and love for the lives lost in Orlando, their families, and the LGBTQ+ communities here and across the world.
