Virginia Dare Back to mark 80th birthday

My sympathy to the family of Tim Fields of Letcher. He was killed in a work-related accident on Jan. 14 at Linefork.

I had to take my daughter Jennifer to the hospital Jan. 12 and she was admitted. She had a bad kidney infection that if left untreated could have caused her to go into premature labor. I spent the night with her and she got out late the next evening. We had cake for her that night because her birthday was Jan. 14. She is on medicine and is doing better.

There will be a dinner held for Virginia Dare Back on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Blackey Missionary Baptist Church from 12 till 2 p.m. It is to celebrate Dare’s 80th birthday which is on Feb. 1. All her family and friends are invited but she wants everyone to know she doesn’t want any gifts.

Myself and all my family really want to thank Letcher Fire and Rescue and Neon for all they did for my cousin, Eric’s, funeral. It really touched our hearts the way you had all the fire trucks and ambulances lined up with the lights flashing when the funeral procession went by, and at the graveside services there was a last call sent out to Eric over the radios. Eric worked for the department until he got sick.

My mom, Jean, finally found out why her hands shake so bad, she has Parkinson’s disease. We are hoping her new medicine will help her and her symptoms. It was not the news we wanted to hear. Everyone just pray it doesn’t get any worse for her.

Congratulations to Jai and Michelle Miller of Blackey, on the birth of their baby girl. Kylie Isabella Grace Miller was born on Jan. 18. She weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. Her grandparents are Fred and Lenora Dixon and Billie Miller, all of Blackey .They said she has a head full of black hair and is gorgeous.

My sympathy to the family of Charles “Doodle” Caudill of Cornettsville. He was killed in a car accident on Jan. 17 in Perry County. He is the brother of Kathy Hale of Blackey. He was 49.
