Visit with family was really a vacation

“This is Billy Hatton, my number three son, and my grandson Chris Hatton when he was a little boy, ‘your number one heating and cooling man’, when he was a little boy,” says Whitesburg correspondent Oma Hatton.

Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well. I’ve been in Georgetown for eight days with my son Astor and his wife Rosemary, and I’ve really enjoyed it.

It wasn’t just a visit, it was a vacation. They treated me like a queen. Now I have to go back to being me.

All my sons and their wives are really great to me and I sure appreciate all of them, but it’s also good to be back home. I’ve missed my family here and my church.

I was sorry not to be here for the funeral of my sisterin law, Jenetta Howard, but I had a real nice visit with her in the hospital before I left, and I was glad of that.

She has always been like a real sister to all of us. I apologize to all her family.

It was good to get a call from an old friend, Tommie Hogg. I hadn’t seen her in years, so we had a lot to talk about.

I just got home late Saturday evening, and I’ll have to check on everyone to see if they all behaved while I’ve been gone.

I was also sorry to miss going to the funeral of Donald Ison. He went to school with my sons. I have to find out what all happened while I was gone.

I’m sure pleased that my son Rob is doing well after his hip surgery. I hope he won’t overdo himself. He is too smart for that!

I’ll have to check on my good friend, Dorthy Tacket, and see how she is doing.

It’s good to be back home and to my church. I’ve been missing it. I got to go Sunday.

I’ve been trying to get to all my family to see what they had been doing while I was gone. Some of them have health problems, and I worry about them.

I was pleased to get a call from an old friend before I left. I’ve known her a lot of years, but we hadn’t seen or talked to each other for a long time.

I saw on my phone that I had missed a call from Bertha (Page) Dye. I’ll call her back.

My sister Betty Tyree has her family in for a visit. I’m sure they enjoyed it.

I talked to my brother Hubert Howard and he said that my sister Louise Shepherd seems to be doing pretty well.

My sister Joanne Brown and her husband came in for Jenneta’s funeral. I didn’t get to see them as I was late getting home.

My sister Judy Greene couldn’t come in for the funeral as she had foot surgery. I hope she is doing well.

I hope Elzie Ray Hatton and his wife are doing well, and also Iva Lee (Absher) Cheatham and her family.

I was sure glad my son Rob came and spent two days with Astor in Georgetown. He’s doing well.

I’ve not had time to get any news since I’ve been home, so I’ll stop boring you.

May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
