Von Hall, granddaughter share October birthday


Happy birthday to Brandon (B.J) Adams of Carcassonne; it was on Sept. 25.

Congratulations to Dan Caudill of Red Star. He was baptized at the Bull Creek Church on Sept. 16.

Happy birthday to Elijah Caudill. He turned 18 on Sept. 19. He is the son of Tim Caudill of Blackey, and Judy Caudill of Doty Creek.

There will be a yard sale held at Blackey on Saturday, Oct. 6, beginning at 8 a.m. It’s a community sale so there should be a lot of items to choose from.

Happy birthday to Nannie Mae Rogers of Blackey. It was on Sept. 23.

My sympathy to Doreen Blair Calhoun and her family of Letcher on the passing of her daughter, Melanie Dawn Blair. She died at their home on Sept. 22.

Barb Campbell from Indianapolis is finally moved into her house at Letcher. She is renting a house next to Jr. Adams and they have been remodeling it for awhile now. She stayed a few nights with Bruce and Rita Gilley.

Richard Wright of Indiana, found out recently he has lung cancer. He is the brother of Linda Collie of Jeremiah. Richard has been having a going-out-of-business sale at his furniture store at the mouth of Spring Branch. I wish him the best.

Happy birthday to Von Hall of Blackey and her granddaughter, Hailey. They share a birthday on Oct. 6. Hailey is the daughter of Sean Hall of Knott County, and Jerri Hall of London, and she will be 9.

My sympathy also to the family of H.B. Caudill, He died Sept. 21.

Happy birthday to Sherry Fugate of Blackey. It is on Oct. 16.

Happy birthday to Leslie Hampton Galagher of London. It is on Oct. 16. She is the daughter of Jeff and Kay Hampton.

There will be a eight-family yard sale on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5 and 6, at the home of Greg and Glenna Pridemore on Hwy. 15 at Isom. It will begin at 9 a.m.

Happy birthday to Oakley Fugate of Carbon Glow. He will be 14 on Oct. 15. He is the son of Robbie Fugate of Carcassonne, and Jodi Johnson of Carbon Glow.

Clyde and Beluah Shepherd of Indianapolis, have been visiting in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. They were there about a week then on their way home they stopped in Louisville and visited with Clyde’s brother, Phillip.

I went up Saturday evening to the nursing home and spent some time with my cousin, Eric Back. He was doing well. Wallace Lee Hall and I talked about how much this county needs rain. He is also doing okay. He shares a room with Eric.

All of Steve and Phyllis Adams’s Elk Creek neighbors would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on their anniversary.

We’d like to let everyone know that the Letcher Area Technology Center HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Club will be in charge of concessions at the Battle Royal in Whitesburg on Nov. 10. We have several bands from across eastern Kentucky registered for the battle. We look forward to a great time!
