Warrior gave generously to people of Letcher Co.

To the Editor:

This county lost another warrior on December 11, 2016.

My friend’s name was Willard Blankenship. He was an old Burdine, Ky., boy who served in WWII and Korea. He had 22 years in service. He served with the 82nd Airborne.

He was a tough man with a soft heart. He and his family have been providing Christmas food baskets here for several years. They provided

15 food baskets and 10 hot meals this Christmas.

I want to thank his wife Roxie and their family for providing these this year even after his passing. They donated $1,550.00, and with Food City savings we were able to bring the total up to $2,170.66.

I would like to say Godspeed to my friend Willard Blankenship and thank his wife Roxie and children.
