It doesn’t seem possible, but here it is August already and the kids will be back in school next week.
Lowell Adams and his daughter, Debbie Diane, of London, were here on Saturday to attend the auction at his brother Otis Adams’s estate. We hadn’t seen them in a long time, and Coreen enjoyed talking with her cousin.
We were sorry to learn that Sylvania Whitaker didn’t get to receive her donor kidney last week. There wasn’t enough function from the kidney when the doctors tested it so she didn’t have the transplant. We pray another comes about soon.
In last week’s column it was Ellis Adams who had been having health problems instead of Eddie Adams. Sometimes my poor penmanship makes it hard for the typist at The Mountain Eagle to decipher.
Blair Branch Church had services at Letcher Manor Nursing Home on Sunday.
It was church time at the Dixon Memorial Church this past weekend.
Two families suffered the loss of a family member this past week. Shirley Blair, the widow of John Henry Blair, died in the Corbin area, and Lois Blair of Blair Branch lost her sister ‘Gay’ Lewis of Frankfort, too. Gay had just recently been in for a visit.
Lillie Moss Hale had her pacemaker worked on and is home now. Her sisters Mary Jo Blair and Anna Lou Blair have been helping her out.
Hopefully Alan and Reva Adams’s son, David, is doing okay after an accidental shooting hit him in the knee. Also their grandson Dillon is having health problems.
Lance Breeding recently caught a huge bass at Cherokee Lake. I think it was over five pounds.
Don’t forget about the Adams, Thompson, Blair reunion this Friday and Saturday, and it is also the Stuart Robinson School reunion this Friday evening at 6 p.m. and Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. All former students are encouraged to attend.
That’s it for now. Have a good week and watch out for school buses on the road.
