Watch Night is set for New Year’s Eve

Blackey

My sympathy to the family of Jason Shane “Jaybo” Jent of Pratt Branch, who died Dec. 9. He would have turned 32 on Dec. 11. He was buried in the Jent Cemetery on Carcassonne.

Also, sympathy to the family of Dr. Dennis Sandlin, who died on Dec. 8.

On Saturday, Dec. 19, the Blackey Missionary Baptist Church will be having the play ‘God Speaking,’ starting at 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served. On Sunday, Dec. 20, the children will be putting on their play, ‘Not a Prayer in the House,’ beginning at 11 a.m. On Thursday, Dec. 31, from 8 p.m. until 12 a.m., there will be held a Watch Night and refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to all the events.

Shilon Morton’s daughter Lynsey has to have surgery again on her arm. She fell awhile back and broke it, so now she has to have pins taken out, and they are putting something in her arm for the muscle to grow back on. She is having her surgery in Pikeville on Dec. 23. They live on Carcassonne.

So many have been sick in our area. My grandson Kaleb Miller had to be taken to the doctor and the emergency room a couple of times within the last couple of weeks. He had a virus he could not get over.

My great-niece and great-nephew Emmaleigh and Gavin Adams have also been sick with it, but thankfully they are all doing better now.

Late happy birthday to Doris Adams of Blackey. It was on Nov. 29.

Bill Johnson of Woodrock is still in Pikeville Hospital, and as of Saturday, was still on a ventilator. When they try to take it off of him he has irregular breathing. I wish him the best.

Happy birthday to Morgan Rowe of Caudill’s Branch. She turned 9 on Dec. 10. She is the daughter of Randall and Rosemary Rowe and has a older brother, Tyler.

Jim and Mary Flynn of Blackey attended the Rockett’s show at Rupp Arena in Lexington on Dec. 10. Mary really enjoyed it but said Jim slept through some of it. He said he would rather be watching the Cats play.

Jan. 1, Brian Campbell of Ulvah will be performing at Summit City in Whitesburg. Everyone try to get out and catch the show.

Bill Gibson of Isom hurt his foot and is now having problems getting up and doing anything for himself, so he has to have aroundthe clock care. Everyone please say a prayer for him, but as of now, he is doing pretty well.

The Old Indian Bottom Church will be having ‘Christmas on the Hill,’ Thursday, Dec. 17, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. The church is at the Frog Pond on Highway 7 at Blackey.
