July 4 will be here soon, and I hope everyone has a safe holiday.
This is one holiday our Congress couldn’t change, as well as Christmas and New Year’s, to get a threeday weekend. It is time to give thanks and be merry, a time to celebrate our freedom.
Since it is in the middle of the week and with so many people out of work, the traffic may not be as heavy. Many who are working and can afford it may take a couple of days’ vacation and stretch out the holiday.
I call July 4 ‘watermelon day’ because there are more consumed on July 4 than any other day of the year. It is a good day to swim too, but be safety conscious at all times and swim only at designated areas, and realize that a 10-pound test line can drown you if you get tangled in it in water over your head.
So be smart, be sober and be safe.
I am firmly convinced that someone at The Mountain Eagle has been a pharmacist to be able to read what I write because I shake so badly.
I was an At Large Notary for 36 years and in May of this year I gave up my commission because some had trouble reading what I had written.
A notary is a witness with a sworn duty to follow the regulations set forth by law and is a bonded servant of the public, but if nobody can read it, it is of no benefit.
This disease is hereditary and there is not much to do to control it. Sure, there are some medicines to help, but it makes a person act like they are about three bricks shy of a load, and I don’t need any help in that department.
When I meet my creator I want all my faculties to be in working order.
Anyway, have a happy and safe holiday and remember, the eye of the law is watching. When you see those pretty blue lights in your mirror, you have already been reported to a higher power.
So remember this as you drive, courtesy, sobriety and safety.
And that’s all from the funny farm until next time.
