We are so proud of Destin Kincer

Cowan Creek

My grandson Collin Cruz Eversole graduated from Mullins Preschool on June 3. Grammy is so proud of him. He is so smart, and he is my sunshine!

Keith and Beth Lucas Callahan’s daughter graduated from high school on June 7. She is a granddaughter of Linda Lucas. They live in Mocksville, N.C. Congratulations to Kenz Callahan.

Also graduating was Jacob Farley Brown, a son of Robert and Sherrie Brown. He is a great-grandson of Virginia Brown of Cowan Creek. Congratulations to all, and good luck as a new journey begins.

Letcher County is so very proud of our very own Miss Kentucky USA, Destin Kincer of Cowan Creek. She was a winner here in our hometown. Many gathered at StreetSide to watch her on the big screen. She is a very sweet and glamorous beauty queen.

Destin is the daughter of Steven and Mitzi Kincer of Little Cowan, and granddaughter of George and Betty Kincer of Thornton.

Prayers go to Dee Dee Williams, a talented singer who is having a hard time, having undergone surgery for cancer on her tongue.

Dee Dee has the faith of a mustard seed, and always says, “God is good.” That He is. She is not going to let the devil hold her back. She has been a patient at UK Hospital. Hopefully she is home now.

Betty Parsons of Sandlick is Dee Dee’s aunt and is accepting donations from anyone who would like to help. God bless Dee Dee . e

Th “Agrestic Music Festival” for Autism awareness in Letcher County was held at the walking track in Whitesburg on Friday and Saturday. The crowd was small on Friday, per volunteer Tristy Kincer, but on Saturday there was a great crowd.

I met a couple from Middlesboro that follows the band Sundy Best from Lexington. My favorite part was our own Taylyn Combs, whose performance included a duet with a lady on, “You Are My Sunshine.” Totally awesome! Made my night.

I also was asked by Taylyn to take a photo with her. We took our CCDW class together.

Have a great week! I ended my weekend making s’mores with my family. Isn’t that what life is truly about — family? Put God in it and you’ve got no worries. He is always on time.

As Dee Dee Williams says, “God is good!”
