Here’s some information to help you pick the right mailing service.

Express Mail, 1-to-2 days – Express Mail service is the top of the line. It comes with guaranteed next-day delivery by noon or 3 p.m. to most locations, or your money back. Where delivery service is available, the Postal Service even delivers Express Mail on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, every day of the year! There’s no extra charge, either, for Saturday, Sunday or holiday delivery.

Express Mail service includes proof of delivery with signature upon request and tracking information. Items are automatically insured for up to $100 at no additional charge. Additional merchandise insurance is available up to $5,000.

Express Mail shipping supplies are available for free at your post office, or you can order them online at usps.com at no additional charge.

Priority Mail, 2-to-3 days – Priority Mail will give you twoto three day service on average to most domestic addresses at rates that make it the best value in the shipping industry. Rates begin at $4.60 for items weighing up to one pound, or that fit properly in our special Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope, regardless of their weight. Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes come in two convenient shapes for $8.95. Priority Mail shipping supplies are available here at the post office and online at no extra charge.

For other Priority Mail packages weighing up to 70 pounds, rates are based on weight, dimensions, and distance to be traveled. There is no extra charge for Saturday delivery where available, and shipping supplies are available at no extra charge at your post office and online at usps.com. You can even print your Priority Mail shipping label online and get delivery confirmation service at no extra charge!

You can insure your Priority Mail package, too, for up to $5,000 and verify that the Priority Mail package was delivered, when it arrived and who accepted it.

First-Class Mail, 1-to-3 days – For packages weighing 13 ounces or less, First-Class Mail service offers great value. The same service you rely on to pay bills and send birthday cards and letters can get your small gifts delivered on time and on budget. First-Class Mail rates vary based solely on weight, so cross-country delivery costs no more than service across town. With First- Class Mail, you can insure your gift, certify that it gets delivered, confirm the recipient or the delivery and even send it Registered Mail for up to $25,000.

Parcel Post, 2-to-9 days – Parcel Post is an economical service that can serve your mailing needs and save you money. It’s especially cost-effective for heavier items (up to 70 pounds). Rates depend on the weight and distance the parcel will travel. For a little more money, you can insure your gift for up to $5,000, find out when the package was delivered and who received it, confirm the recipient or the delivery, and even get a receipt showing that it was delivered.
