Joyce Whitaker, acting president of the Letcher County Retired Teachers Association (LCRT), recently attended the annual state convention of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA) in Louisville along with her husband, Charlie, co-chair of the membership committee. Also in attendance were 400 leaders from 118 other local associations in Kentucky.
The theme of the convention was “Renew Your Commitment to KRTA.” The event included a reception and a luncheon as well as sessions relating to health and insurance, legislation and benefits. LCRT received the Gold Seal Award at the meeting for reaching the goals and objectives of KRTA, also the M.L. Archer award for reaching more than 90 percent membership in KRTA.
All retired teachers are invited to join LCRT. Benefits include free legal advice; free finance and investment advice; travel arrangements; membership to the Commonwealth Credit Union; reduced long-term care insurance; reduced cost on health, life auto and home insurance; dental/ vision plans, and health plans for retirees under 65.
