Whitco church to hold revival

Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well.

This has been a sad week for a lot of families.

One of our Marlowe girls died, Irene (Adams) Amburgey. She was a daughter of the late Bonnie and P.W. Adams, and the wife of Homer Amburgey. I went to her funeral.

I visited Bro. Earnest Brock in Whitesburg Hospital recently, and he wasn’t feeling well. I got to meet his son, who is also a minister, and his wife. I enjoyed meeting them. They live in Alabama.

I was going to visit my pastor’s wife, Alicia Conn, and they had discharged her and I just followed her home and had a nice visit with her and Bro. John. I hope she is feeling better.

My sympathy goes out to the family of Jimmy Johnson of Campobello, S.C. His wife is Carol Katherine Sexton, who was from Whitesburg.

His funeral was Friday. I went to the funeral and there was a large crowd there. They have a large family here, and I was glad to see all of them. Betty Jo Combs’s funeral was the same day, and I saw a lot of her friends and family.

I think she lived about all her life in Whitesburg. She was a beautiful woman and everyone loved her.

Our sympathy goes out to Judith Vermillion, her sister.

My niece, Shannon Banks, had a birthday on March 25. I hope she had a happy birthday. She spent the day with her mom, Louise Shepherd.

Late happy birthday to Greta Howard on March 27. Hope it was a great one. Did Keith take you out to dinner?

Whitco Pentecostal Church will be having a revival on April 14 with Bro. Jimmy Jewell from Ohio. I’m really looking forward to that. He’s been to our church lots of times. Try to come be with us.

A late very happy birthday to a special lady to all of us, Elsie Banks, who turned 100 years old on March 27. I’ve certainly enjoyed reading your news for many years. You were one of the very best.

Our church, Whitco Pentecostal, will be having Easter sunrise services at 5:45. Come be with us.

My sister Betty Tyree came out for a visit. I enjoyed it, but we sure didn’t sit out on my porch. It was so cold.

Maybe next time. We love sitting outside.

Pam Gardener of Virginia came over to visit her mom, Louise Shepherd. They had a nice visit and went out for lunch. We love company! Nobody does it much anymore, don’t have time.

Why are we so busy? Time just gets away from us.

I sure enjoyed going to the play with Linda Hatton and seeing all of the talent we have in Letcher County Central High School.

I just sat ‘bug-eyed’ at it all. The girls looked so beautiful and the boys so handsome, especially my great-grandson, Beau Hatton, who played Jack in the play .

My brother Bobby Ray Howard’s granddaughter, Haleigh Howard, looked beautiful and did her part well also. I’m glad I didn’t miss it. Enough bragging, but it was unbelievable!

It was nice seeing Shirley Breeding there. I hadn’t seen her in a long time. She was such a big help to me when our husbands were in the Veterans Center.

It has been so cold these last few days. We had gotten used to the warm, sunny days. I think they are coming back.

We have so many friends and family sick and needing prayer. Pray for all of them. May God bless all of you, and try to be in church if you are able.
