The annual old-time country dinner will be held at the Letcher County Extension Office in Whitesburg, on Wednesday, Sept. 22, which is Whitesburg Day of the Mountain Heritage Festival. The meal will be $5 per person and will be served from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. There will also be a bake sale that morning starting at 8:30 a.m.
The menu will be soup beans, cornbread, kraut and wieners, dessert and a drink. Extension Homemakers and participants in the University of Kentucky’s free Ovarian Cancer Screening Program will be sponsoring the dinners. All funds raised will go to the free screening program, which now includes 183 local women.
For the dinner, carryout is available and some limited delivery around Whitesburg. Of course, you are welcome to drop by the Extension Office at 478 Extension Drive (off the By-pass and Stone Avenue), in the beautiful building, “sit a spell” and visit with your neighbor.
