Whitesburg Day dinner planned

There will be an old-time country dinner at the Letcher County Extension Office on Wednesday, September 24, which is Whitesburg Day of the Mountain Heritage Festival. The meal will be $5 per person and will be served from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m.

The menu will be soup beans, cornbread, kraut and wieners, desserts and drinks. Extension Homemakers and participants in the University of Kentucky’s Ovarian Cancer Screening Program will be sponsoring this dinner. All funds raised will go to the free screening program, which now includes 200 local women. They will also have a bake sale that morning at 8:30 a.m.

For the dinner, carry-out is available, and some limited delivery around Whitesburg. You may call 633-2362 to place your order. You can also call that number to find out more about the screening program. September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
