WHITESBURG WEATHER

Whitesburg is decorated nicely with all the flags

Hello everyone! What a hot weekend we just had. Several reunions are going on and people are out decorating the graves.

Spent time with Kathy and Eddie and Archie and Margaret. Had supper with a friend on Saturday at Long John’s, church on Sunday. Play practice this week. Busy time of the year.

Big Cowan

Mike still in good spirits after surgery. Had him up in the chair most of the day Saturday. He likes that hospital because when he gets hungry he just picks up the phone and calls, and they bring him food between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

If he can get hamburger and fries, he will be fine. Not liking not being able to smoke is rough on him.

Happy anniversary to Isom and Darlene Fields. They were married 53 years on June 1, and live in Morristown, Tenn.

Happy birthday to Madison, 13 years old on June 2, granddaughter of Georgette and Harry Sims of Danville, and Carol Rayburn also has a birthday on June 2.

Happy anniversary to Leroy and Joann Fields on June 3; happy birthday to Stoney Lucas on June 8; happy anniversary to Herb and Linda Fields on June 9; and happy anniversary to Autumn and Josh Bunch, married two years on June 8.

Prayer list this week: Mike Fields, Jeanne Adams, Danny Adams, Teresa Sturgill, Darrell Holbrook, Brenda Stone, Brenda Slone, Print Sturgill, Brian Belcher, Kenneth Hopson, Frieda Campbell, Glenda and Richard Brown, Steve Brown, Archie Fields, Agnes Maggard, Anna Maggard, Judy Fields, Irene Day, Eugene Day, Cowan neighbors, Jackie and Jason Joseph, Morris Hackney, Kathy, Eddie and Thomas Wolfe, and Fran Day.

Whitesburg looked good over the weekend with flags on almost every pole, and cemeteries nicely decorated. Such a bittersweet time.

Just stopping and realizing how many of our ancestors are gone. We are the older generation now. Hope we leave a good legacy for our family.

Lots of tears, sweat and hard work for most, but would not go back and change a thing. Just proud we are from the good old U.S.A.

Well folks, got to go. Have a good week and may God bless.
