Whitesburg is planning Fourth of July celebration

A fireworks show and performances by a Beatles tribute band and other musical acts will be among the highlights next week when the City of Whitesburg kicks off its annual Fourth of July celebration.

Eight Days A Week, a Beatles tribute band from Cincinnati, is scheduled to begin recreating the sounds of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr around 9 p.m. on July 4, in the parking lot of the Parkway Plaza Shopping Center in West Whitesburg.

Also performing on Friday will be Woody Pines and his band, who are scheduled to take the stage at 5 p.m. Pines, of Asheville, N.C., and Athens, Ohio, is a National Steel guitar player who specializes in blues and roots music.

The city celebration, which continues through Saturday, July 5, will also feature inflatable bounce houses for children, a farmer’s market, food booths, a horseshoe tournament, and a cornhole tournament.
