Whitesburg taxes won’t increase

The City of Whitesburg will not seek a tax hike for the coming year. At a special called teleconference meeting last Wednesday, the Whitesburg City Council voted unanimously to leave the tax rate on real property at 34 cents per $100 for the coming year.

Whitesburg Mayor James Wiley Craft said the rate works for the city and is not overly burdensome for taxpayers. The council voted unanimously to pass the second reading of the ordinance by roll call vote.
