Members of the Whitesburg High School Class of 1990 celebrated their 20-year reunion at Eolia Community Park on Sept. 4.
The class had an “old school” lunch, with the menu read aloud for the students by former lunchroom lady Joann Bowen, who worked in the cafeteria during part of the class’s stay on the school hill. She later became manager of the lunchroom.
The menu was school pizza, French fries, corn, green beans, hominy, applesauce, fruit cocktail, peaches and milk. Stephanie and Pete Broersma and even the little Broersmas helped prepare the pizza at their home, while Deborah Miranda made the French fries at Eolia Baptist Mission Fellowship Hall. Tiny Creech and Andy Miranda delivered the hot food while the classmates and even their children decorated and set up for the picnic.
Other special guests included Pat and Richard Yinger, Ruby Caudill and Greg Bowen.
The winners of the Corn Hole Tournament, Jeff Cash and Logan Reed, received trophies for first place and the runners-up were James Fields and Donnie Sexton.
The class members expressed thanks to Eolia Community Park, Kester Halcomb, Brenda Gross, the special guests, those who prepared and delivered the food, and all those who were able to attend the reunion. The class motto is Cherish Yesterday, Live for Today, Dream of Tomorrow.
