Wilma Jean Lucas dies at 81

WILMA JEAN LUCAS

Wilma Jean Lucas, 81, of Commiskey, Ind., died May 3 at Seymour Crossing in Seymour, Ind.

Born in Whitesburg, she was the daughter of the late Ishmael and Martha Kiser Everidge, and the widow of Beyrl Lucas. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Bill Everidge, Barney Everidge, James Everidge and Tom Everidge; a sister, Venova Adams; and a greatgreat grandson, Branson Michael Hetch Muncy.

Mrs. Lucas was a seamstress for the Excel Shirt Factory in Seymour, Ind., for 10 years before retiring in 1972 and had worked for ITT Thompson Industries in North Vernon, Ind. She attended Commiskey Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Michael Lynn Lucas and Linda Stout of Commiskey, Ind.; daughters, Tammy Jo Whipker and husband Scott of Seymour, Ind., Sandra Jean Hauersperger and husband Terry of North Vernon, Ind.; brothers, Ed Everidge and wife Phyllis of Elizabethtown, and Dick Everidge and wife Corky of Shelbyville; a sister, Eva Davis and husband Ralph of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren Stacey McRoberts and husband Bill of North Vernon, Ind., Tony Hendrix and wife Kim of Clayton, Ind., Wilma Carter and husband Ja of Crothersville, Ind., Stephanie Carter and husband Brian of Avon, Ind., Joey Hendrix and Terry Lucas, Gavin Lucas, Jared Whipker, Sarah Stucker and husband Tedd and Bryan Whipker and wife Ashley, all of Seymour, Ind.; nine great-grandchildren, Andy Johnson and wife Kalli and Dillon McRoberts, all of North Vernon, Ind., Morgan Muncy, Hadlee Hendrix, Isabell Lucas, Breanna Lucas and Zachary Lucas, all of Seymour, Ind., Victoria Carter and Marissa Carter, both of Crothersville, Ind.; and great-great-grandchildren, Krystal Johnson and Tara Johnson, both of North Vernon, Ind.

Funeral service were conducted May 7 in North Vernon, Ind. Burial was in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Ind.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Alzheimer’s Association.
