WMMT seeks contributions

The WMMT on-air fund drive will be held through October 18.

In January, the mountain community radio station premiered the Health Matters series, hosted by Dr. Van Breeding. Since Health Matters began, WMMT has received a number of reports from Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation of new patients who have sought treatment for various health issues because of advice they heard on WMMT.

Along with Bluegrass Express Live, the station has launched its WMMT’s Rock Live concert series.

Cancer survivors in the region have been given an outlet to raise awareness and share their inspirational stories through the new Mountain Survivors program.

Children throughout the community are developing their musical talents, thanks to the Passing the Pick and Bow afterschool instruction sessions.

WMMT has reached out to families, struggling amidst the incarceration of loved ones, through Calls from Home and the Prison Report.

The lineup of volunteer programmers continue their work of filling the airwaves with personality and music, including gospel, melodic bluegrass, nostalgic traditional, free form rock, Americana, and hip-hop.

Pledges can be made in the WMMT fall fund drive by calling (606) 633-1208 through Oct. 18, or by mail to WMMT, 91 Madison Ave, Whitesburg, KY 41858. Contributions can also be made on www.wmmt.org.
