Woman accused of assault

Jenkins City Police have charged a 27-year-old woman with second-degree assault after she allegedly drove her vehicle toward her aunt and intentionally hit her with it.

Melissa R. Fisher, of 2404 Indian Creek Road in Virgie, was also charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating substance (second offense) and operating a motor vehicle while her license was under suspension for a previous D.U.I. charge.

Jenkins City Patrolman Chris Nickels arrested Fisher at 3:05 a.m. on April 19, about 40 minutes after she allegedly drove her 2001 Pontiac Grand Am automobile into her aunt who was standing beside U.S. 23, near Joe’s Branch.

An arrest citation says the victim of Fisher’s assault was taken to Jenkins Community Hospital for treatment of “several injuries” she suffered after being “thrown into the ditch line by the collision.”

The citation does not mention a motive for the alleged assault.
