A Jenkins woman is accused of almost hitting a Fleming-Neon police officer while driving under the influence of alcohol Friday night.
Police say as Dianah Wyatt, 25, of 73 Brickyard Hill, neared a road check on Highway 805 around 11:30 p.m. on May 23, she accelerated and almost hit Fleming-Neon Police Offi cer Tim Miller as he stood on the road’s yellow line waving a flashlight. Miller’s cruiser was one of three police units with emergency lights flashing that were parked at the road check, say police.
Wyatt continued down Highway 805 to Poppy Road in Haymond where she stopped, said Miller. He wrote in an arrest citation that Wyatt also failed sobriety tests.
Wyatt was arrested and is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, second-degree wanton endangerment and failure to maintain liability insurance (first offense).
Wyatt posted a $2,500 surety bond on May 24. She is scheduled to appear at arraignment in Letcher District Court at 11 a.m. on June 11.
Jenkins Police Department assisted with the Memorial Day weekend road check.
