A Thornton woman has pleaded guilty to breaking into a car and stealing a purse during the summer.
Crystal Marie Virgin, of 462 Hwy. 2524, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking (more than $500) and theft of two or more credit/ debit cards.
Virgin burglarized the car of Phyllis Barker, which was located at the Letcher County Domestic Violence Shelter in Whitesburg, on July 10, 2010 and took a purse and its contents, a moneybag, and more than $500 belonging to Barker and the Letcher County Central High School Dance Team.
Letcher Circuit Judge Sam Wright on Feb. 25 ordered
Virgin to be placed on probation under supervision of the Department of Corrections for three years. As part of the conditions of her probation, Virgin must refrain from violating the law. She must pay a supervision fee of $15 each month, a drug-testing fee of $10 each month and court costs of $130. Virgin is ordered to pay $1,305 in restitution to be paid to the Letcher Circuit Clerk’s Office for Barker at a rate of $150 each month.
Wright also ordered Virgin to have no contact with Barker or the Letcher County Domestic Violence Shelter. She will receive 157 days jail credit with time spent in custody prior to sentencing.
