Women held on burglary counts

Two Letcher County house mates were charged with seconddegree burglary and possession of burglary tools after a neighbor found them inside his home.

Susan Marie Machniak, 20, and Lexie Sue Taylor, also 20, were charged by Kentucky State Police on Feb. 21 after they were found “collecting items to remove” from the home of Jeff Potter at Yonts Fork in Jackhorn. Machniak and Taylor live at 132 Setter Road in Jackhorn.

A complaint filed by KSP Detective Randy Combs says Potter returned to his home at 11:15 p.m. last Thursday to find the two women inside. Potter held Machniak and Taylor until police arrived.

The complaint said each of the two women was in possession of a knife, a screwdriver, and tire plug tool at the time of their arrest.
