A McRoberts man has confessed to stealing more than $8,000 worth of merchandise including 20 iPads and 20 Xbox game consoles from the Whitesburg Walmart while he was a sales associate at the store.
Linville Victor Hendrix, 22, of 21 BBall Drive, also stole an amplifier, speaker, PlayStation 3 controller, Xbox controller, Wii controller, HP laptop, Wii U system, “Django” DVD, JVC stereo and a shirt from WalMart, according to a written citation.
The items totaled $8,392.29.
The thefts, which occurred during March 29 through May 3, were caught on video surveillance and Hendrix confessed to the thefts, according to the citation.
Hendrix was arrested by the Fleming-Neon Police Department May 22 at the Haymond Pentecostal Church and charged with theft by unlawful taking, a Class D felony.
Hendrix remains in the Letcher County Jail. He has not yet been arraigned. He was ruled ineligible for bail after officials determined he could be a danger to himself or to others.
