Five people, including Kona residents Jacklyn Lay and Mary Wright and taken to the Jenkins and Whitesburg hospitals for treatment. The accident occured at approximately 1:45 p.m. at the junction of US 23 and KY 3086 near Jenkins High School. Witnesses say the Explorer, driven by Lay, was “T-boned” when it crossed into the path of a northbound vehicle being driven by Kendall Solinskia of Michigan. The impact caused the Explorer to go airborne and roll twice upon landing. Also injured were two passengers in Solinskia’s car, Eric Luz and Michael Ramley of Michigan.
