A WRONG-WAY DRIVER caused this accident on Main Street in Whitesburg Monday morning, Whitesburg City Police Officer Jordan Clemons said. According to Clemons, the SUV pictured at left was traveling East from West Main Street at the intersection with South Webb Avenue when another car (not seen in this photo) came the wrong way out of the one-way street by the Letcher County Courthouse and hit the SUV in the side. That caused the SUV to turn sideways and run head-on into a pillar on the front of the courthouse. There were no injuries, but the impact with the courthouse pillar caused the airbag in the SUV to deploy and resulted in damage to the front of the vehicle.
