The Cowan Homemakers met at the beautiful mountain home of Georgia and Bobby Phillips. Georgia had a delicious feast, and Bobby grilled some great hamburgers and hot dogs
We were happy to have visitors. We always appreciate Ann Bradley being with us. Linda Brown’s sister, Yvonne Sutphin, came with her, and Marilyn Banks came with her sister-in-law, Linda Banks.
Kedrick Sanders and Bessie Shepherd came with pictures of some of the beautiful barn quilts they have painted.
We had wonderful entertainment of old-time music by young musicians Logan and Autumn Dollarhyde and their friend Austin. These kids are really musicians. I don’t think there was a still foot on the mountain.
Another visitor was Jeanette Dollarhyde’s granddaughter Ellen Dollarhyde, another talented young lady who played the flute and sang for us.
The last thing before we parted was Ellen playing ‘Amazing Grace’ on her flute. In the mountain air, this was so hauntingly beautiful to bring shivers and tears to your eyes.
Cousins sharing a good weekend at Jenny Wiley were Marilyn Banks, Carol Caudill, Linda Lucas and Doris Banks. We enjoyed the luncheon show, ‘Mid-Life Crisis,’ but we liked even more, the evening showing of ‘Cinderella.’ Do you suppose this means we’re in our second childhood?
Ramona Caudill and her daughter Laura and granddaughters Cassie and Hannah were on vacation last week. They visited family and friends in Seymour and Columbus, Ind. They also visited several malls, mostly looking. They reported a good time.
Ella Preston’s grandson, Michael, is visiting with her.
Belated birthday wishes to Brenda Boggs of Dry Fork, July 25.
Ronnie Brown’s wife, Anita Carol, of Cowan, died last week and was buried Friday, July 23, in Banks Peaceful Cemetery at Ice. She had been sick for several years. Remember the family in your prayers.
Yvonne Sutphin has been visiting her sister, Linda Combs, and other family members. While here, she attended the wedding of Christina Crawford and Steve Bolton. Christina is the daughter of Regina Combs Crawford of Berea, and Robby Crawford of Brodhead.
A baby shower was given for the baby boy expected in August for Kevin and Denise Brown, July 10. They received many baby items that they thank everyone for.
Robby Brown of Myrtle Beach, came in for his sister in-law, Carol Brown’s funeral.
Get well wishes to Tommy Robinson of Cowan, who broke his neck and wrist when he fell down stairs at home.
Patsy Adams, her daughter Angel, and grandchildren, Jackson and Brittany, spent a week in Orlando, Fla., with her son, Donnie Adams and Amanda.
They went to Disney World for a day, and Cocoa Beach for a day to see the ocean. They had a great time.
Donnie is very happy in the motorcycle mechanic school. He is at the head of his class with a 4.0 grade point average and perfect attendance. Amanda is working at Perkins and Ruby Tuesday.
We want to request your prayers for all our sick friends and neighbors. Among them are Roger Fields, Delmar Fields, Earl Profitt, Brenda Holbrook, Freda Runyon, and Eddie Jack Roberts.
Roger is home from Holston, but has to go back for more treatments.
Earl has a long way to go to recovery, but is making some progress with his therapy.
Freda, who is J.T. Caudill’s sister, is in Scotland with her husband, who is working there. Just before she was scheduled to fly there she found out her cancer had returned. She was determined and went anyway.
