Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Thursday that Kentuckians ages 50 and up can make appointments for the Covid-19 vaccine beginning Monday, March 22.

Everyone 16 and over will be able to sign up for appointments that begin April 12. The vaccine has not yet been approved for persons under 16, but clinical trials for children are underway.

Officials have said they expect the vaccine to be available to everyone before the beginning of school in the fall.

Persons in Letcher County who want to take the vaccine may contact Whitesburg ARH Hospital, Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation, Pine Mountain Pharmacy in Whitesburg, Walgreen in Jenkins, or Pikeville Medical Center to make an appointment.
