Barter Theatre will stage a “’50s-style atomic rockn roll musical romp” as the cast presents “Zombie Prom” on Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Performing Arts Center in Pound, Va.
The 3 p.m. performance is presented by Pro-Art Association, The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, and Mountain Empire Community College as part of the W. Campbell Edmonds Memorial Concert Series.
Pro-Art encourages audience members to arrive dressed as a zombie, prom queen or king. Prizes will be awarded to the top three contest winners. “Prom pictures” will be taken before the show and during intermission for those who dress in costume. Come early to let the makeup artists “zombify” you.
Zombie Prom is a girlmeets ghoul musical offering mutations of doo-wop, teen ballads, rousing gospel, and rock music.
This program is partially supported by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Admission is $12 adults, $8 seniors and $6 students.
