New Year’s Eve dance set

A New Year’s Eve party and dance will be held Friday, Dec. 31, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Whitesburg American Legion. The cost is $10 a person, and those attending must be at least 21 years old. White Thunder will perform.

Eighteen Letcher County residents died in 2010 from drug overdoses, an official said this week.
